Privately Sponsored (non-UC) Study Abroad Next Steps

Please be advised that OIE staff does not advise on and cannot authorize or sign forms related to non-EAP programs.  These must be processed via the method described below.

  1. Follow the instructions of your chosen program to apply and be accepted.
  2. To request transfer of credit to UCSC, file a Proposed Program Evaluation Form with the Admissions Office.  This process can take 4 to 6 weeks so start early.
  3. Complete the NUCSA Leave of Absence Form (LOA) and Liability Waiver. Meet with your College Advisor to discuss academic progress and to obtain signtures/approvals.  You will need to take your completed Proposed Program Evaluation Form with you to this meeting.
  4. Submit approved NUCSA LOA, signed waiver, and appropriate fee as instructed.
  5. If you are a financial aid recipient and would like to apply your award to a NUCSA program review the process on the Financial Aid Office website. Download Consortium and Contract Agreement Forms and submit completed forms to FAO.
  6. Meet with your Major Advisor to discuss courses that might apply toward your major and obtain signatures.  You will need to take your completed Proposed Program Evaluation Form with you to this meeting.
