CALL FOR PROGRAMS:

International Education Week 2009

November 16-20

The OIE invites you to participate in the tenth annual International Education Week (IEW), November 16-20, 2009, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State. The goal of IEW is to raise awareness of international education and exchange, build greater international understanding, and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States.

IEW is an excellent way to encourage UCSC students to be active and informed international citizens.  As you plan your student programs for the 2009-10 academic year, please consider participating in IEW by hosting an international guest speaker or presentation; demonstrating or teaching a sport, dance or martial art; screening an international film; or holding any other activity that will contribute to this great week of global learning.

We encourage Professors, Student Groups, Departments and Colleges to celebrate our international community. We understand that it may be difficult to commit to plans for next year and that your interest in participating does not obligate you.

Celebrate and highlight cultures, international education and exchange opportunities, academic programs and activities at UCSC. The week is dedicated to enhancing international awareness across the campus as well as to reinforcing the importance of the exchange of students and scholars across borders.
